The people behind the curtain

Erica Holt

Erica Holt

Artistic Director

Erica traces her love of story back to a childhood spent with fairytale books in a quiet corner of the library, and she's spent her career chasing that same sense of wonder ever since. A University of Northern Colorado Theatre Department graduate, she's worked professionally around Denver and toured with Missoula Children's Theatre. Off stage, she works as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.

Tim Holt

Tim Holt

Illusioneer & Technical Director

Tim grew up in Durango, Colorado, and has built a career across an unusually wide range of disciplines -- software engineering, cybersecurity, theatrical craftsmanship, special-effects makeup, acting, clowning, and puppetry among them. A member of the Puppeteers of America, he builds and performs a puppet character in every Soul Penny production. His work spans theatrical effects, animatronics, and practical illusion -- bringing technical precision to the mechanics behind the magic.

Fae Champagne

Fae Champagne

Producer & Public Relations Director

Fae splits her time between Denver, Los Angeles, and Montréal as a professional aerialist and producer, and she's a co-founder and VP of Soul Penny Circus. She's produced and collaborated with organizations including The Clocktower Cabaret, The Stanley Hotel, Fever Candlelight Concerts, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Outside the company, Fae is active in ESL and refugee-community initiatives, and runs a jewelry business with her partner making wire-braided pieces that honor her Sámi heritage.

Megan Stern Cerveny

Megan Stern Cerveny

Creative Administrator

Megan didn't grow up dancing -- by her own account she was an uncoordinated kid who chased science and travel instead, eventually working a research contract at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. Back in Denver in the summer of 2010, a flyer for an aerial fabrics class changed the course of her life. She's since trained, performed, and taught with several Colorado aerial companies, and is currently a company member with Iluminar Aerial and Soul Penny Circus.

Marci Wojciechowski

Marci Wojciechowski

Dance Captain

Marci has been with Soul Penny Circus since the beginning!! She has been dancing since age four and has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, hip-hop. While dancing at the University of Colorado she graduated with a degree in Kinesiology, she later attended George Washington University in Washington DC where she obtained 2 Masters degrees in Public Health as well as Health Sciences and is practicing Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine with experience in Trauma and Neurosurgery. She has performed and choreographed throughout the USA and Europe. She got her start in aerial at Iluminar Aerial and is privileged to still choreograph and perform with Soul Penny and Iluminar. Many thanks to the SPC family, you are all the best!

Brion Humphrey

Brion Humphrey

Clowning Director

Brion brings the theatrical clown role to life for Soul Penny Circus -- patchwork jacket, boundless mirth, and a real gift for turning playfulness into a kind of magic. Off stage he's a closet poet and novelist, and by day a high school theatre teacher. He shares the ring with his own family among the cast, including his puppeteer wife and son.

The Company

The Players

Soul Penny Circus is built on an ensemble of performers, dancers, and collaborators -- some who've been with the company since the beginning, some who join us for a single production. Individual profiles for each are on the way.

Behind the Scenes

The Roustabouts

Responsible for the physically demanding work of setting up, dismantling, and transporting our circus tent and equipment -- the crew that gets the show on its feet before anyone else arrives.

Matthew Simmons Ian E. Cerveny
"A rouseabout of rouseabouts, above -- beneath regard, / I know how soft is this old world, and I have learnt, how hard -- / A rouseabout of rouseabouts -- I know what men can feel, / I've seen the tears from hard eyes slip as drops from polished steel." -- Henry Lawson
